  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000264 to IRIX 6.0.1.

  12.        1.1  _S_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d__H_a_r_d_w_a_r_e__P_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s

  14.        This patch contains bug fixes for all platforms.  The
  15.        software cannot be installed on other configurations.

  17.        1.2  _S_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d__S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e__P_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s

  19.        This patch contains bug fixes for IRIX 6.0.1 for all
  20.        platforms.  The software cannot be installed on other
  21.        configurations.

  25.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  26.        6.0.1.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking
  27.        system are included for reference.

  29.        This patch is a replacement for Patch SG0000089 (which was
  30.        created for fixing bug #233025 -- dlopen() of /lib/libc.so.1
  31.        failed, which severely affected users of Lisp systems.)
  32.        That patch had consisted of modifications to a few system
  33.        components, including the runtime loader (/lib/rld) to
  34.        support the new executables.
  35.  
  36.        This patch (Patch SG0000264) contains the same
  37.        modifications, and in addition, fixes the following bug:
  38.  
  39.           +o Bug #250597 -- rld missing last symbol when relocating
  40.             dlopen'ed DSO's.  What actually happened was that rld
  41.             was resolving symbols for dlopen'ed DSO's incorrectly
  42.             when a previous dlsym returned a zero value.  This bug
  43.             was seen when running Wavefront.

  76.        Because you want to install patches for only the problems
  77.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  78.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  79.        this patch, determine the patches that meet your specific
  80.        needs.

  82.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  83.        software product.  Follow the instructions in your _I_R_I_S
  84.        _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e to bring up the miniroot form of
  85.        the software installation tools.

  87.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  89.          1.  At the Inst>prompt, type

  97.          3.  Initiate the installation sequence. Type

  101.          4.  You may find that two patches have been marked as
  102.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one
  103.              of the patches.

  109.          5.  After completing the installation process, exit the
  110.              _i_n_s_t program by typing

  115.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  116.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  117.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  118.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
